LOVE FOR MUSIC:
From the time she was a little girl dancing in the front row isles of Spectacular Forum, Leonce has loved and has always been surrounded by Calypso & Soca music. Living on the sweet twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago, Leonce’s first chance of fulfilling her fantasy came when she performed at a junior Calypso competition.
Leonce Later Migrated to the US and was introduced to Rayzor, the leader of The Request Band based in NY and was given a shot at joining the band as Lead Female Vocalist. With Rayzor as her mentor, she began learning the ins and outs of performing with a live band and began touring various North American cities with the band.
Leonce is influenced by artistes such as Singing Sandra, Denyse Plummer, Ella Andel, Destra Garcia, Fayann Lyons, Allison Hinds, and Shennel Demster. The Request Band has been known to have played for Soca acts such as Machel Montano, Rupee, Fay-Ann Lyons, Iwer George, Lyrikal, Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Edwin Yearwood, Motto and has opened up on shows for Daddy Yankee, Neyo, Capleton, Elephant man, Kes The Band and Destra & The Bakannal Band. With all that wealth of actual hands-on experience, Leonce took to the studio to record her own songs such as “Warn Dem,” “Addicted,” “Whip it,” “My Team” and “Ah Reach,” which she qualified for the Semi-Finals in both categories of the 2020 International Soca Monarch Competition and began touring with BLAXX and the Allstars for the Carnival season. Fast forward to 2021, Leonce has released new music amid the Covid-19 pandemic with her new audio and video release called “Soca Entanglement.” The “Soca Entanglement” video is available on YouTube and regional Caribbean music video countdown.
